The IDF announced today the death of Sergeant Yaniv Mikhlovich, 19, from Rehovot, an armored corps fighter in the 82nd Battalion of the "Golan Storm" Brigade (7th), in combat in northern Gaza Strip. Mikhlovich fell on Friday, 17 Tammuz 5785, July 2, 2025. The IDF Spokesperson announced that the fallen soldier's name was cleared for publication after notification was given to his family.

The young soldier was posthumously promoted from corporal to sergeant, as is customary in the IDF. He was an experienced armored corps fighter in the combat unit of the 82nd Battalion, which operates under the "Golan Storm" Brigade specializing in combat in the Galilee and Golan regions.

In the severe incident in which Mikhlovich fell, two additional fighters from the same battalion were seriously wounded – a tank commander and another armored corps fighter. Both wounded soldiers were evacuated for medical treatment at a hospital, and their families were updated on their condition. The IDF did not release additional details about the circumstances of the incident or the nature of the injuries.

Concurrent with this incident, another fighter from the Egoz unit of the Commando Brigade was also seriously wounded in combat in northern Gaza Strip. The fighter was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment and his family was notified. It is unclear whether the two incidents are related or occurred separately.

The IDF announced that it shares in the grief of the bereaved family and will continue to accompany them. The "Golan Storm" Brigade operates as part of the ongoing military activity in the Gaza Strip, and its units are exposed to constant risks in the continuing combat in the northern sector of the Strip.
