Dim Amor
Attorney Haya Malul, known in Israel's public sphere for representing ordinary citizens in complex legal battles against influential institutions and centers of power, has officially announced her intention to run in the Likud Party primaries for the newly designated women's slot.
The announcement, published in a personal post on social media, comes after a period during which Malul deliberately reduced her public activity in order to remain by her mother's side throughout a challenging medical journey. She opened her statement on a deeply personal note:
"My dear mother taught me that whenever you enter a holy place, the first thing you should do is give thanks, and only afterward ask for anything. Before anything else, I want to thank God for the great kindness He has shown my mother".
From the Courtroom to the Political Arena
Attorney Haya Malul has built a professional reputation as a fearless legal advocate, specializing in representing individuals facing severe hardship. Throughout her legal career, she has handled complex cases against organizations and institutions wielding considerable political and economic influence.
Her reputation has been forged through her willingness to stand on the front lines against prominent figures and organizations regarded as part of Israel's most influential elite. Even when facing opponents backed by substantial financial resources and extensive international connections, she has consistently refused to back down.
According to political observers, the experience she has gained in these high-profile legal battles against influential figures in the media and civil sectors is expected to become one of the central pillars of her election campaign.
"I Cannot Stand on the Sidelines"
In her announcement, Malul directly linked her decision to enter politics to the events of October 7.
"Especially after October 7, I realized that I cannot stand on the sidelines. I have no right to remain silent while others determine the future of our country".
According to Malul, her decision was also influenced by the numerous appeals she has received from members of the public in recent months.
"I never stopped hearing you, your messages, your phone calls, and the overwhelming support from people across the country who asked me to return to public service, continue fighting for our shared values, and run for office so I could represent them in the Knesset of Israel", she wrote.
Attorney Haya Malul emphasized that her primary motivation is to restore "the voice of genuine people, those who love this land and the State of Israel, to the place where the nation's most important decisions are made".
She concluded her statement by inviting the public to join her on what she described as a journey of "truth and faith", while referring to the Jewish holiday of Shavuot as an opportunity to strengthen the values of Jewish tradition, the Torah, and the love of Israel.
Now, with her official transition into the political arena, Attorney Haya Malul faces what may be the most significant challenge of her professional career: transforming the legal experience and public support she has accumulated into meaningful political influence within Israel's ruling party.
