The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced the completion of an emergency operation to airlift more than 2,000 Israeli citizens from Amsterdam, following violent incidents against Israelis in the city. The complex operation included ten evacuation flights and was completed over the weekend. The operation was conducted in cooperation between multiple agencies, including the Ministry of Transportation, the National Security Council, Israeli airlines, Civil Aviation Authority, Airports Authority, IDF, and Police.

"Israeli Embassy teams in the Netherlands, led by Ambassador Modi Ephraim and Foreign Ministry staff in Jerusalem, worked around the clock to reach every Israeli in the Netherlands, ensuring all our people are safe and making sure no Israeli is left behind," the Foreign Ministry stated.

As part of urgent diplomatic efforts, Foreign Minister Gideon Saar held talks with his Dutch counterpart, Kasper Veldecamp. During the conversation, Saar emphasized "the severity with which Israel views the widespread violent attacks against its citizens throughout Amsterdam." The Dutch Foreign Minister, who was in Singapore at the time, reported that he is in continuous contact with his country's Prime Minister and Minister of Justice and Internal Security to address the events.

Following his visit to the Netherlands, Foreign Minister Saar published a comprehensive interim summary sharing significant developments with the public: "During my meetings in the Netherlands, I repeatedly expressed questions and concerns to my hosts, both regarding local police action on the night of the pogrom and the failure thus far to arrest the criminals who participated in it," Saar wrote.

The Minister reported on a meeting with Amsterdam's Mayor, who updated him about establishing a special investigation team to investigate the case. "The Prime Minister, Ministers, and party leaders I met with all expressed full commitment and determination to bring the criminals to justice," Saar added.

In a significant development, the Israeli Foreign Minister offered assistance in collecting testimonies and evidence by Israeli Police from Israelis who were victims or witnesses to the events. According to him, "The authorities in the Netherlands (both at national and local levels) agreed to this, and I believe that in the coming days, a practical way will be found to implement what was agreed upon."

Saar emphasized the Israeli government's commitment to continue monitoring the handling of the events: "The Israeli government will not let go of this matter and will continue to follow it to ensure justice is done and the barbaric criminals are punished." He noted that senior Dutch government and parliament officials expressed similar commitment, understanding the importance of the issue for their country, and used the term "shame" when referring to the events.

Two special command rooms were established to manage the crisis – one at the Israeli Embassy in Amsterdam and another at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Jerusalem. Additionally, the Foreign Minister ordered a comprehensive review regarding the functioning of the telephone response at the beginning of the events, following reported difficulties by many citizens in reaching the situation room.

The operation included special efforts to ensure the safe departure of Israelis from hotels to the airport, a topic that was raised during the conversation between the foreign ministers of both countries.

Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Israel:

We are profoundly shocked by the attacks perpetrated against Israelis last night in Amsterdam. This violence is absolutely unacceptable, and as Prime Minister Dick Schoof has affirmed, the perpetrators will be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

King Willem-Alexander declared earlier today: "I have just concluded a conversation with President Herzog regarding last evening's events in Amsterdam. I conveyed to him how deeply my wife and I are disturbed by the violence directed at Israeli supporters who are guests in our nation. We cannot and must not avert our eyes from antisemitic behavior in our streets. Our history has taught us how intimidation progressively deteriorates from bad to worse, with catastrophic consequences. Jewish people must be able to feel secure in the Netherlands, everywhere and at all times. We embrace them in solidarity and will not abandon them."

The Embassy and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintain ongoing communication with Israeli authorities to provide any necessary assistance.
