Dim Amor

A real drama is unfolding in the world of international aviation following an extensive cyberattack allegedly carried out by a group of Ukrainian and Belarusian hackers. According to their claims, they managed to penetrate the computer systems of the Russian airline "Aeroflot" and disable all its services on Monday morning.

According to the hackers' version, the attack lasted a full year and led to the complete shutdown of one of the world's largest airlines. The scope of economic damage is estimated at tens of millions of dollars.

According to reports in local Russian media, the hacker group destroyed Aeroflot's entire IT infrastructure in a sophisticated cyber operation that was prepared in advance over a full year. The damage is so enormous that all critical systems of the Russian airline were breached, from databases to internal email and management communications. According to reports, approximately 7,000 servers were deleted and over 20 terabytes of sensitive data were stolen.

The attack immediately affected the company's operational activities. Many "Aeroflot" flights were canceled or delayed on Monday morning, with "Aeroflot" itself reporting a "service malfunction" due to information system problems, although it did not reveal the specific cause of the malfunction. As of July 29, Aeroflot's website displays the message "Flights are not available for the dates selected", meaning no flights are available.

The most serious damage, apparently, was discovered on Monday, July 29, when suspicions arose that the identities of thousands of passengers – including Israeli citizens – who purchased flight tickets through the "Aeroflot" company, were leaked to the network. According to reports, this involves particularly sensitive details, including personal information and credit card data.

Thousands of Israeli citizens flew via the "Aeroflot" company to various destinations, including New York, India, Moscow, and others. Additionally, Israeli citizens with dual citizenship traveled on "El Al" flights to Moscow, and from there continued on domestic flights to various destinations throughout Russia – including Novosibirsk, Murmansk, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, the Crimean Peninsula, and others – to visit family members or acquaintances.

Information security experts warn the Israeli public, especially those who previously purchased flight tickets directly from Aeroflot, to act urgently: change passwords, contact the bank, and request the issuance of new credit cards – including the CVV code appearing on the back of the card.

Travel agencies that made bookings through the "Aeroflot" company may also be exposed to similar risk, and they are advised to take immediate precautionary measures.

The information is based on reports published in Ukrainian and Russian media.

The most alarming discovery comes from Ukrainian media, claiming that hackers can not only access passenger details but also bring down aircraft. According to reports, the operation was prepared a year in advance, and the hackers know the routes, internal correspondence, and all details of passengers who ever flew through Aeroflot. A company that hadn't changed passwords for over three years became a relatively easy target for such a sophisticated breach.

Attempts to contact Aeroflot offices in Moscow, Tel Aviv, and St. Petersburg met with complete failure, as all offices are closed. The company promised refunds to all passengers within a few days, but as of July 29, there is no response at all. Hundreds of Israelis who didn't fly and received no compensation or replacement were left without a solution, as Aeroflot is essentially in operational disaster. The customer database has been mostly deleted, and the company doesn't know who actually purchased a ticket and who didn't.

The danger extends beyond Aeroflot itself. Partnerships and airlines belonging to the SkyTeam Alliance are also in potential danger. The hackers can take control of more companies and details, as they allegedly declared they have the information and will leak it. However, the Belarusian and Russian hackers note that their main target is Russia and Aeroflot, not other companies, but companies affiliated with the SkyTeam Alliance club are still in potential danger.

The SkyTeam Alliance, established in 2000 with headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands, includes 19 airlines as of 2024. Among the major companies in the alliance are Air France, KLM, Delta Air Lines, Korean Air, Aeromexico, China Eastern, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Czech Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, and others. The alliance enables cooperation between airlines, flight coordination, code sharing, more convenient transfers between companies on connecting flights, frequent flyer point accumulation across alliance companies, access to shared lounges, and operational efficiency.

The Aeroflot breach exposes existing vulnerabilities in the information systems of international airlines, especially when they neglect basic security updates. The case demonstrates how a single cyberattack can disrupt the operations of a giant airline and affect hundreds of thousands of passengers worldwide.

According to current expectations, the recovery process will last entire months, provided the company's backups were not also damaged. However, the fact that the company hadn't changed passwords for over three years raises concerns that backup systems may also be compromised. The attack on Aeroflot serves as a serious reminder to international airlines about the critical importance of maintaining advanced and current cybersecurity measures.

Dim Amor

The IDF launched a widespread military operation in the Gaza Strip today called "Gideon's Chariots", as part of the ongoing effort in the "Iron Swords" war. The new operation marks a significant transition in the fighting from "Oz and Sword" to "Gideon's Chariots", aimed at returning the hostages and eliminating Hamas rule in Gaza.

In a dramatic statement delivered near the Gaza Strip border in the Zikim area, IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Efi Dafrin announced that the new operation is being carried out under the direction of the political echelon, and that IDF forces have already begun extensive operational activities. "We are launching this operation to achieve all the war objectives in Gaza, returning the hostages and collapsing Hamas rule", said Dafrin.

According to the IDF spokesperson, as part of the new operation, five divisions are now operating in the Gaza Strip, after the "opening strike" of the operation began in recent nights. The army conducted extensive reserve mobilization in preparation for the operation, and according to Dafrin, "The reservists understand the urgency of the hour and the magnitude of the moment" and have reported for duty in high numbers.

The operation is based on three central principles, as detailed by the IDF spokesperson. The first principle is achieving operational control in areas where the IDF operates, clearing these areas of enemy forces, and targeting terrorist infrastructure both above and below ground. The second principle focuses on moving civilian populations from combat zones for their protection, while simultaneously damaging Hamas's governance capabilities. The third and final principle aims to target Hamas's command and control system, its commanders, and its remaining capabilities, until achieving complete military and governmental collapse.

"Unlike before, we are now concentrating offensive efforts in the Gaza Strip and carrying out attacks until decisive victory in the areas where we operate", emphasized Dafrin, hinting that the current operation would be more intensive than its predecessors.

In his statement, the IDF spokesperson recalled that the army recently declared it was preparing for widespread action as long as Hamas holds hostages, and clarified that "now the threat is being realized". According to him, the IDF will act to divide the Strip and increase operational control over it, while implementing operational lessons learned from the fighting thus far.

Brigadier General Dafrin emphasized that the operation is being conducted in full coordination with the Hostages and Missing Persons Directorate, and that the army "is doing everything possible to prevent harm to the hostages". According to him, "They are always before our eyes. We will not rest until they return".

Earlier today, the IDF Chief of Staff conducted a situation assessment with commanders of Division 162 in the Gaza Strip area, and emphasized to the forces that the IDF will know how to adapt to any development. "We are moving forward, and the only thing that can stop us is the return of our hostages home", Dafrin said, adding that "the IDF will provide the political echelon with all necessary flexibility in order to return the hostages".

In addition to the combat forces, Dafrin noted the contribution of technology and logistics personnel, both regular and reserve, whom he described as "full of experience and motivation". According to him, "They too are at the front, ready and willing to support and enable the operation over time, under combat conditions, as they have done until now".

The IDF spokesperson refrained from revealing additional details about the operation, noting that "ambiguity is a means, we will not share our plans with Hamas, they will see actions on the ground". Nevertheless, he promised to continue to update according to operational developments.

Operation "Gideon's Chariots" comes after a prolonged period of fighting in the Gaza Strip and marks a significant escalation in Israel's war effort. The army makes it clear that it is determined to achieve the objectives of the war through extensive and coordinated action, which will include enhanced operational control, protection of civilians, and striking Hamas capabilities.

According to the statement, Operation "Gideon's Chariots" is "another phase" in an ongoing campaign, and it appears that the IDF plans to continue fighting until achieving its declared objectives – returning the hostages and collapsing Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip.

In his public statement, Brigadier General Dafrin repeatedly emphasized the IDF's determination to act "with full force" to realize the war's objectives and protect Israeli citizens, while promising that "we are acting as a defensive line before civilians everywhere and will continue to do so".

Operation "Gideon's Chariots" marks a new and intensive phase in the war in the Gaza Strip, as the IDF deploys significant military power to achieve its objectives. The central emphasis in the spokesperson's statement remains the return of the hostages and removing the threat from Hamas, while the army makes it clear that it will not stop the operation until fully achieving these goals.

Dim Amor

Basel, Switzerland – On the eve of the grand finale of Eurovision 2025, which will take place tomorrow (Saturday) in Basel, the tension between the leading countries reaches its peak. The battle for victory is being waged between Israel, Armenia, Czechia, Ireland, and Estonia, with the question of political influence on the results hovering in the background.

Polls and betting odds place Israel, represented by Yuval Rafael with "New Day Will Rise", in first place in audience voting, with qualification chances of 94% according to betting agencies. However, as happened in previous years, everything depends on the "professional" judges, who have often preferred political considerations over genuine talent.

Yuval Rafael, a survivor of the Hamas attack from October 2023, brings a powerful ballad in three languages – English, French, and Hebrew – to the stage. Her performance has evoked mixed reactions across Europe, with political protests on one side and enthusiastic support on the other. Despite the controversy, the wider audience continues to vote for her in large numbers.

Armenia is represented by Parg with "Survivor", a song with dramatic elements whose chances of making the finals stand at only 42%, placing the country on the borderline of qualification. Ireland, represented by Amy with "Laika Party", comes with an upbeat pop song and a colorful stage performance. With qualification chances of 39%, Ireland is in an insecure position. Reactions to the song were mixed – some viewers found it enjoyable and catchy, while others struggled to connect with it.

For its part, Estonia is represented by Tommy Cash with "Espresso Macchiato", an electro-swing song in Estonian and Italian. Cash, an eccentric artist with a post-Soviet style, brings a performance with exceptional visual elements to the stage. His winning chances stand at about 2% according to the betting odds, placing Estonia in the second tier of favorites.

Czechia, represented by Adonx with "Blood and Glitter", comes with a dramatic ballad with gothic influences. Adonx, a singer born in Slovakia, focuses on dark aesthetics and showcases his powerful voice. Czechia's winning chances stand at only about 1%, placing it at the bottom of the table.

Behind the scenes of the competition, the discussion about the influence of politics in Eurovision is growing. Many times in the past, Israel has led in audience voting, but "professional" judges awarded points to other countries due to political considerations rather than in accordance with the real talent displayed on stage. "Eurovision is a political competition and not one of talent – it hasn't been about talent for a long time", many critics claim.

If we look at the expected results according to the "professional" judges, Israel is expected to reach fifth place, a result considered excellent considering the political situation. Above it in the table are Sweden with KAJ and his song "Bara Bada Bastu" (39% chance of winning), Austria with JJ and "Wasted Love" (23%), the Netherlands with Claude Kmbm and "C'est la Vie" (8%), and France with Louane (11%).

The Swedish song "Bara Bada Bastu" is a humorous song in the pop-schlager style, performed in the Voroa dialect, with an original and vibrant stage performance. Austria, on the other hand, brings a powerful ballad combining pop and opera, with an impressive vocal performance that has received much praise.

The Netherlands competes with an emotional multilingual song with soul influences, delivered in a touching performance, while France presents a traditional ballad in French, dedicated to the mother and daughter of singer Louane, with an emotional performance that captured the hearts of the judges.

The tension ahead of tomorrow's final is strongly felt in the hall in Basel. Organizers expect a viewership of over 200 million people worldwide, who will follow the big decision. The central question occupying everyone is whether this time the audience vote will overcome the judges' considerations and allow Israel to win first place.

The Eurovision organizers, for their part, emphasized the importance of maintaining a non-political character for the competition. Nevertheless, it is difficult to ignore the political tension that hovers over the event. Outside the hall, demonstrations were held both for and against Israel's participation, and the discourse on social networks has become particularly stormy. The Swiss police have increased security around the event, and promised to maintain order and the safety of all participants.

An in-depth analysis of voting patterns in recent years shows that there is often a significant gap between audience preferences and judges' scores. Last year, for example, Israel enjoyed great success in audience voting but received relatively low scores from the judges, which prevented it from reaching the top positions.

Eurovision experts explain that political considerations play a significant role in judges' voting, while the audience tends to vote more according to musical preferences.

Yuval Rafael's performance attracts much interest also because of its musical quality. Yuval's personal connection to the song, as a survivor of the terrorist attack in October 2023, adds another dimension to her performance. Forecasts for tomorrow's final point to a particularly close battle. If we combine audience votes with judges' scores, Israel might certainly reach first place, but everything depends on the weight given to each of the components.

While Sweden enjoys strong support from the judges thanks to the original and colorful performance, and Austria impresses with the spectacular vocal performance, Israel combines musical power with a universal message, which may bring it the support needed to win.

Ireland, with "Laika Party", brings energy and vitality to the competition, but seems to lack the power and emotional depth to compete for the top positions. Czechia and Estonia, despite the uniqueness and authenticity of their performances, are at a disadvantage in the polls, although surprises are always possible at Eurovision.

Tomorrow's grand final is expected to be one of the most fascinating in recent years, with a diverse mix of musical styles, personal messages, and of course, the politics that is always present behind the scenes. Will Yuval Rafael bring Israel an emotional victory? Will one of the other countries surprise? The answers will be given tomorrow, on the Eurovision stage in Basel.

The Israeli delegation continues with its final rehearsals and preparations for this sublime event.

As the hour of decision approaches, all eyes are on Basel. Beyond the identity of the winner, the essential question is whether Eurovision 2025 will succeed in rising above political disputes and celebrating the art of music as the founders of this cultural enterprise originally aspired. The answer to this will be given tomorrow evening, when the spotlights are directed at the Eurovision stage in Basel, Swiss Confederation.

By: Dim Amor

An "Maakav" (Monitoring) investigation reveals: Nof HaGalil Mayor Ronen Plot, known as "The Boss", and his deputy David Shinan, allegedly manage a network of fictitious profiles on social media with the aim of attacking critics and silencing public criticism. City employees, at taxpayers' expense, are recruited for this effort.

In our in-depth investigation, we uncovered disturbing and concerning conduct at the top of the Nof HaGalil Municipality. Documents and correspondence obtained by our editorial team reveal how, allegedly, Deputy Mayor David Shinan, under the direction of Mayor Ronen Plot, operates a sophisticated network of fictitious profiles on social media. This is done with the aim of harassing public critics and internet users who dare to express criticism about the municipality's conduct.

The information came to "Maakav" from a senior source in the Nof HaGalil Municipality, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation. "I am terrified", the source confessed to me, "after this matter explodes, I will delete this profile and destroy my phone". His words expose the harsh atmosphere prevailing in the municipality, where according to him, "the mayor is a vindictive person".

The investigation reveals how Deputy Mayor David Shinan allegedly approached the city's spokesperson Yigal Stoliarov and other council members, requesting them to create fictitious profiles on social media. The purpose of these profiles was to attack critics of the municipality, primarily Maxim Plastun, a social activist and manager of the Facebook group "Saving Nof HaGalil". Maxim Plastun, an ordinary resident, is described by our sources as a person who regularly challenges the municipality by exposing failures and waging a persistent struggle for transparency and proper administration in the city. Among other things, he criticizes the mayor's priorities and policies. According to the investigation, in response, he became a central target for an organized attack of fake profiles allegedly operated with the knowledge and guidance of senior municipality officials.

The implications are serious: public employees, receiving salaries from taxpayer money, are allegedly recruited for personal political purposes, while illegally using municipal resources. Moreover, according to another senior source in the municipality, the municipal spokesperson's office also manages the mayor's personal page – another example of the misuse of public resources and public employees for the personal-political goals of elected officials.

Profile Forgery: The Municipal Conspiracy

In his initial correspondence, Deputy Mayor David Shinan apparently approached Micha Kupin with a complaint that the latter had created a profile on the social network 'Facebook,' which led to the blocking of a fictitious profile that was in their use.

An analysis of their exchanges allegedly shows that the two arranged a meeting, following which the elected official and city council member transferred a detailed list of fake profiles to Deputy Mayor David Shinan.

Another significant detail is that Micha Kupin informed Shinan about his reserve military service, but explicitly stated that on February 18, 2025, he would be at home. Additionally, Kupin asked: "When will you be at the city offices tomorrow? I want to talk to you about this issue" (referring to the creation of fictitious identities) – allegedly.

During the correspondence in question, a document from Mr. Maxim Plastun was mentioned, as well as the name of Mrs. Anat (presumably, Mrs. Anat Tubol).

• We emphasize that some of the profiles have the same "parent" – that is, the same identifying address (ID 284882215), which is a unique number in the Facebook system similar to an IP address, and it belongs exclusively to the Facebook system – this is a complete fraud that was carried out, among others and not only, by one person.

Deputy Exploits Spokesperson for Profile Forgeries

The second correspondence is with Mr. Yigal Stoliarov (spokesperson), an employee at the Nof HaGalil Municipality who won a tender to perform spokesperson work for the municipality.

However, it appears that Deputy Mayor David Shinan is exploiting the employee for his personal benefit, and allegedly asks him to create fake profiles (see where the public funds collected from property taxes, taxes, etc., are directed) – this conduct is extremely irregular and constitutes a serious offense.

Negative Correspondence and Failure to Report

In the negative correspondence that was provided to us, communication is allegedly documented between Deputy Mayor David Shinan and Mr. Michael Hasler.

Despite Mr. Hasler's explicit refusal to cooperate in this matter, as far as we know, no official report has been filed on the subject, despite the existence of a statutory reporting obligation in this type of matter.

"Maakav" approached attorney Yehoshua Rubin, who explained that this conduct may constitute a violation of several sections of the Penal Code, including: fabrication of evidence (Section 238), obstruction of justice (Section 244), abuse of office power (Section 280), fraud and breach of trust (Section 284), breach of statutory duty (Section 286), deception (Section 416), and impersonation of another person (Section 441).

How Fake Profiles Operate

We hereby bring before the public additional evidence and documentation demonstrating how automated systems ("bots") operate in a hostile manner toward citizens who dare to voice critical opinions.

It is needless to say that all the fictitious profiles were, allegedly, in direct correspondence with Deputy Mayor David Shinan. This is absurd, and even a clear paradox, as Deputy Mayor David Shinan recently published a public post on the subject of fake profiles, apparently and allegedly, out of his personal and in-depth familiarity with the phenomenon.

For the purpose of the investigation, "Maakav" approached all those involved in the affair. The attempt to get a response from Mayor Ronen Plot met with immediate rejection. "Do me a favor, leave me alone", Plot replied to "Maakav's" inquiry, and immediately blocked the reporter's phone number – an action that allegedly constitutes a violation of the law, which requires elected officials not to block the public.

Ms. Anat Tubol, a council member, claimed in her conversation with 'Maakav' that she was not aware of the issue at all. Micha Kupin, another council member, denied any involvement, saying in a phone conversation that "nothing happened." Michael Hasler, a council member from "Yesh Atid", avoided a real phone conversation with me as a "Maakav" journalist. Initially, he asked to postpone the conversation until 6:00 PM, but when I tried to contact him at the appointed time, I discovered that Hasler had blocked me – which allegedly indicates a lack of credibility and even constitutes a violation of the law.

We sensed that the elected official would impose a block on us via phone, but no such block was imposed on the WhatsApp application. Therefore, we sent him a message (18:11): "Hello, Michael. In our previous conversation, you committed to returning to talk, and even to respond at 18:00, but again you are not available — something that was, unfortunately, predictable. However, it is not proper for an elected official to act in a deceitful manner. I learned that you arrived at Ronen Plot's office in the municipality, and may have even received a kind of instruction not to respond. Wishing you a pleasant evening".

Hasler was caught in a lie – this is the example for the younger generation of the "Yesh Atid" party.

The investigation reveals a concerning pattern of behavior in the Nof HaGalil Municipality: when a reliable source in the municipality reports on an urgent meeting held between Hasler, Plot, and spokesperson Orna Yosef Bochabut, apparently in connection with the affair, immediately after "Maakav's" inquiry. "Maakav's" inquiry to Hasler on this matter remained unanswered.

According to the investigation, the main purpose of operating the fictitious profiles was apparently to create a false impression of legitimate public debate. This, in order to pretend that there are many supporters of Plot and his policies, while in practice most of the supportive responses came from those same fake profiles. The responses sometimes included insults and defamation against Plastun and other residents who dared to criticize the municipality's conduct.

For this matter, Yigal Stoliarov, the deputy spokesperson of the municipality in charge of managing the city's social media and also serving as a spokesperson, to whom Shinan allegedly approached with a request to establish fictitious profiles, responded laconically to "Maakav" that he is "in reserve duty".

"Maakav" also approached the municipality's spokesperson's office requesting an official response to the unfolding affair. On April 21, 2025, a detailed inquiry was sent to the director of public relations, Orna Yosef Bochabut, who confirmed at 16:35 that she had received the letter, but claimed she was on a "tour". As of the publication of this investigation, despite her obligation as a public employee to respond to media inquiries, no official response from the municipality to the serious allegations has been received.

In the official inquiry, "Maakav" raised a series of pointed questions to various parties in the municipality, including the mayor, his deputy, the director of public relations, and council members involved in the affair. The questions addressed central issues such as: the operation of fictitious profiles on social networks, the use of public resources to manage personal pages of elected officials, instructions to public employees to perform actions that are not part of their official job definition, and possible damage to public trust.

Our investigation paints a concerning picture of the political situation in Nof HaGalil; in fact, under the leadership of Ronen Plot, a system has allegedly developed that works to silence criticism through methods that raise ethical and legal questions alike.

Our sources indicate that the political situation in the city is particularly concerning – Plot has an absolute majority in the city council, with 11 mandates for his faction, 2 mandates for a religious faction supporting him, and 4 mandates for an Arab faction in his coalition. Thus, out of 17 mandates in the council, all are in the coalition, and there is no significant opposition in the city. As a result, all council decisions are made unanimously, without significant criticism or oversight.

In addition, a harsh picture emerges regarding the Nof HaGalil Municipality's conduct towards its critics: against Maxim Plastun, a prominent social activist who criticizes the mayor and his policies, lawsuits have been filed for considerable amounts – so far, totaling about 760,000 shekels. Among the plaintiffs are Mayor Ronen Plot himself, the Local Planning and Building Committee, and Deputy Mayor Awada Shukri.

The implication is that Plastun has had to spend over 60,000 shekels so far on legal defense, with almost his entire salary dedicated to financing his public struggle. Moreover, he bears a heavy personal price in terms of his health, mental strength, and dealing with offensive publications attributed to David Shinan.

What is revealed here is allegedly an entire system designed to silence public criticism, through the use of fictitious profiles on social networks, strategic lawsuits against critical citizens, and the use of public employees for personal political purposes.

For a full understanding of the power map in the city, it is important to note the political background of the main parties involved in the affair: David Shinan is a member of the "Likud" party; David Micha also belongs to the "Likud" party; Michael Hasler is a member of the "Yesh Atid" party; and Ronen Plot, who previously served as the Director General of the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption, as the Director General of the Ministry of Information and Diaspora, and as the Director General of the Knesset, was previously a member of the "Labor" party and today belongs to the "Likud" party and serves as the mayor of Nof HaGalil.

"Maakav" continues to follow the development of the affair and calls on law enforcement agencies to examine the concerning findings that emerged in this investigation. This conduct, if proven true, constitutes a serious violation of the values of transparency, ethics, and democracy, and requires the intervention of supervisory and enforcement bodies.

In fact, as a journalist at "Maakav", I am aware of the paramount importance of freedom of expression and public criticism in the democratic field. The fight against means aimed at silencing legitimate public criticism will continue to be at the top of our journalistic priorities, for the protection of the principles of transparency, democracy, and the public's undisputed right to know.

Responses:

Some of the responses were published during the article, the spokesperson of the Nof HaGalil Municipality did not bother to respond (the speaking silence), the "Yesh Atid" party received an inquiry and has not yet responded, the "Likud" party also did not provide a response.

Mr. Maxim Plastun told "Maakav": "For a long time, I have been exposed to fictitious accounts responding in the Facebook group I manage and trying to defame me and my group publicly. I can only guess that these are people who don't like my criticisms and the criticisms of the city's residents about what's happening in the city from all aspects! I was surprised to hear that the deputy mayor allegedly manages fictitious accounts against me and gives instructions to city employees, which is very serious, and to elected officials to respond against me! The moment the article is published, I will look at the material and consider my next steps".

Journalist and cultural critic Dim Amor made a shocking revelation against the Israeli Opera, claiming that the cultural institution is helping to finance the war in Ukraine through collaboration with a Russian state theater. "I will no longer attend the Israeli Opera," Amor declared in an exposé that shook the cultural world. "An institution that provides a platform for supporters of Russian fascism and a regime that supports Hamas has lost its public legitimacy".

In an extensive investigation, Amor reveals a disturbing mechanism: "A ticket to the Eifman Ballet's 'The Seagull' by the Russian state theater cost about 400 shekels. This money was transferred directly to the Russian government, and thus Israeli citizens, perhaps unknowingly, became supporters of Putin's regime. Israeli shekels purchased missiles against Ukraine because the money went to the Russian state, which uses it, among other things, to finance the war".

"I am certain that Ukrainian Jews are dying also due to the passive support of Israelis who thoughtlessly bought tickets to 'The Seagull'", Amor asserts. "The Israeli Opera provided a stage for the Russian theater, and the Ministry of Culture, which maintains the opera with public funds, remained silent because the Russian government wanted their theater to visit Israel".

The timing, Amor emphasizes, intensifies the gravity of the situation: "All this happens after October 7, when Hamas members, who are defined in Russia as a 'freedom-fighting party', have flown to Moscow several times. All this occurs while Russia publicly supports Hamas, supplies weapons to the terrorist organization, and even built a Kalashnikov factory in Gaza".

"'The Seagull' was staged after October 7, and Jews were silent again and even bought tickets for 400 shekels", Amor adds angrily. "What seemed like support for culture actually turned into support for Putin's government and strengthening his regime, which acts against Israel and for the killing of Ukrainian citizens, many of whom are Jews".

"The severity of the situation intensifies", Amor explains, "when you understand that Russia not only supports Hamas but has built a factory for manufacturing Kalashnikov rifles and missiles in Gaza. While the Israeli Opera hosts a Russian state theater, that same government supplies weapons to terrorist organizations operating against Israel".

While through the Israeli Opera, Israeli money was indirectly transferred to Moscow through various intermediaries, representatives of the terrorist organization Hamas visited the Russian capital several times after the October 7 terrorist attack, receiving public support from the Russian authorities and its president Vladimir Putin. All this occurred while the same organization held and continues to hold dozens of Israeli citizens captive, explains Dim Amor.

Dim Amor reiterated: "The situation is absurd when Russia supplies weapons to our enemies and defines terrorist organizations as 'freedom fighters', the Israeli Opera decides to provide a platform and legitimacy to a theater representing the same hostile regime. Every ticket sold to 'The Seagull' ballet turns Israeli spectators, even if unknowingly, into indirect supporters of a system that acts against Israel's security interests".

Following this revelation, Amor announced that from now on, he would only watch opera abroad. "I will not lend a hand to a cultural institution that transfers public funds to a regime that supports terror", he concludes.

This is what the opera told us:

"Hello, the performance 'The Seagull' created by the Ailpman Ballet is brought by an independent producer called 'Tzemach Productions,' who rents the opera hall. Please contact them. The public relations officer for the performance is Shauli Baskind (whose details I have passed on to you)."

• Dim Amor

Soon, the case will reach Israeli courts, and the truth may be exposed.

A dramatic revelation is shaking one of Russia's most prominent human rights organizations: The Alexei Navalny Foundation (FBK) is accused of providing protection to bank managers convicted of stealing billions of rubles, using the guise of opposition activities. Now, this explosive case is set to reach Israeli courts.

An explosive investigation published by Russian-Israeli blogger Maxim Katz exposes a sophisticated system of fraud and concealment, allegedly centered around the Navalny Foundation. According to the publication, the foundation serves as a protective umbrella for senior Russian banking industry officials who fled to Europe after being convicted of stealing vast sums. Instead of facing justice, Katz claims, these managers present themselves as victims of political persecution, with the Navalny Foundation providing them extensive lobbying services in Europe.

"This is a brilliantly cynical method," quote sources familiar with the investigation details. "While the world sees the Navalny Foundation as a symbol of anti-corruption struggle, it allegedly assists financial criminals in evading punishment by exploiting its reputation as a human rights organization".

In a heated interview with Russian channel "tvrain" (Dozhd), Katz leveled severe accusations: "These bankers robbed the Russian public, and now they're hiding behind a smoke screen of political persecution. The Navalny Foundation has become a sanctuary for white-collar criminals".

The Navalny Foundation's response was swift: a threat of a defamation lawsuit in Israel, where Katz holds citizenship. "They chose Israel as a legal battleground because they know the truth will come out here", Katz said confidently. "If the Israeli court confirms my investigation's findings, it could lead to a domino effect, collapsing the immunity they've built in Europe".

Russian courts have already established the guilt of the involved bank managers, but they managed to escape to Europe before imprisonment. Now, according to the investigation, they enjoy protection from a sophisticated lobbying network established by the Navalny Foundation, which presents them as persecuted freedom fighters.

The case raises pointed questions about the connection between human rights activities and black money, and how legitimate political struggles can be exploited as cover for criminal activity. Soon, Israeli courts may need to rule on these questions, in a decision that could resonate far beyond the country's borders.

Background Note on the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK)
The Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK or ACF), a non-governmental organization in Russia established in 2011 by opposition figure Alexei Navalny, focused on exposing alleged corruption among senior Russian government officials. The foundation was funded through private donations. In 2019, the Russian Ministry of Justice declared the foundation a "foreign agent," and in 2021 it was declared an extremist organization and dissolved. Navalny, recognized as a significant opposition leader, announced the foundation's reopening as an international body in July 2022 while imprisoned.

The foundation's purpose, as presented by its manager Vladimir Ashurkov, was to generate public pressure on the government to push for internal reforms and provide an alternative to the existing system. The foundation was officially registered in September 2011, and according to Ashurkov, the founders gained experience in transparent public funding through the RosPil project, where activities were supported through donations via the Yandex.Money system. The foundation's goal was to permanently integrate professional lawyers and economists to expose and prevent corruption in the public procurement system.

The investigation into FBK included a series of serious accusations, including money laundering of about one billion rubles (later reduced to 75 million rubles), and lawsuits by state-owned companies against the foundation for "organizing riots." The foundation was required to pay for expenses that the police claimed were caused during demonstrations.

On October 9, 2019, the foundation was declared a "foreign agent" due to receiving civilian donations from abroad, including from the USA and Spain. Despite returning the donations, the Russian Ministry of Justice did not remove FBK from the list of "foreign agents".

The application that purported to be a stage for all has transformed into a digital battleground where Israel and Jews are silenced, while antisemitic hatred flourishes unimpeded.

In today's digital world, where freedom of expression ought to be a supreme value, there lurks an application that conducts a scandalous and discriminatory censorship policy. TikTok, the popular social network that has conquered the globe, reveals itself as a problematic platform that fosters antisemitism and hatred towards Israel.

In recent months, a disturbing phenomenon has come to light: TikTok systematically deletes profiles and responses of Israelis and Jews who support the State of Israel. Numerous users have found themselves silenced without prior warning and without the possibility of appealing the decision. Concurrently, anti-Israeli and antisemitic content enjoys absolute immunity.

Daniel Gitman, a renowned Israeli blogger engaged in public diplomacy, also fell victim to TikTok's discriminatory policy. "I thought I was bringing Israel's voice to a global platform. Instead, I found myself silenced and ostracized", Gitman stated in an interview.

What is even more disconcerting is that while pro-Israeli content is being erased, millions of profiles using the hashtag "free palestine" or disseminating blatantly anti-Israeli content remain unscathed. Even complaints about inciting content or vulgar curses against Jews and Israelis fall on deaf ears.

Is this mere negligence, or perhaps a deliberate policy? It is difficult not to wonder whether TikTok, a Chinese application holding information on approximately 2 billion individuals, is not exploiting its power to advance an anti-Israeli agenda.

However, TikTok's problems are not limited to censorship alone. The application employs additional dubious practices, such as retaining cache data of users' devices even after the application has been deleted. This practice, bordering on illegality, prevents blocked users from re-registering and raises serious questions regarding privacy and data security.

In light of all this, it is unsurprising that TikTok has found itself at the eye of a legal storm in Israel. A class action lawsuit has been filed in the Tel Aviv District Court by attorney Shira Etzioni, demanding that the company be held accountable for its actions.

TikTok operates in Israel and profits from it; the company must act in accordance with the country's laws and respect its values.

The question that arises is: Will TikTok finally be compelled to confront the consequences of its discriminatory policy? Will the court force the Chinese giant to alter its ways?

At present, many among Israel's citizens find themselves facing a complex dilemma. On the one hand, the platform offers extensive opportunities for exposure and creative expression. On the other hand, it reveals itself as a hostile and discriminatory arena.

"We do not seek preferential treatment. All we desire is an equitable opportunity to make our voices heard", Gitman declares resolutely. As the affair continues to unfold and branch out, it is evident that TikTok stands at a crucial crossroads. Will it choose to rectify its ways and become a more fair and inclusive platform? Or will it persist in adhering to its problematic policy, thereby risking the loss of public trust and severe legal ramifications?

We at the "Maakav" editorial board have approached TikTok for comment, but as of yet, we have received no response.

Despite all requisite approvals and examinations, the dog was discovered bereft of life. El Al expresses its deepest regrets and pledges to thoroughly investigate the incident.

A grievous tragedy befell a recent El Al flight when a canine, transported in the cargo hold, met its untimely demise under tragic circumstances. This incident, which has come to light via social media platforms, raises grave concerns regarding the protocols for handling living beings during flights and the accountability of airline companies in such matters.

Gilly Moses, the dog's proprietor, shared her heartrending account on Facebook: "The tears flow ceaselessly on a day that was meant to be joyous and familial with our young Daniel, my spouse, and our cherished canine, Vito". Moses recounted how her husband had diligently procured all necessary examinations and approvals from the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure their dog could accompany the family on the flight.

According to Moses, despite all preparations and associated expenses, the unthinkable transpired: "My heart shatters at the realization that El Al neglected the presence of a dog in the aircraft's hold, resulting in the return of a lifeless body after two hours". She added, with palpable anguish: "The extent of our love, care, and devotion knows no bounds, yet due to El Al's irresponsibility and thoughtlessness, and following their exorbitant demands for checks and approvals, they callously ended his life because they 'forgot' to activate the oxygen supply".

This affair raises significant questions regarding safety protocols and the treatment of living creatures during flights. Mrs. Moses asserts that despite all required approvals and checks, a grave operational failure led to this tragic outcome. "This is a horrific case that pierces the heart and evokes profound sorrow. The depth of our love for you, and our attempts to protect and keep you with us", she wrote with immense grief.

In response to YNET's inquiry, El Al stated: "El Al Airlines expresses its deep sorrow over the incident. The company transports hundreds of animals monthly in accordance with professional protocols that are meticulously executed. We are conducting an in-depth investigation into the details of this case and are approaching the family with utmost sensitivity".

Many express shock over the incident and demand a thorough examination and improvement of existing procedures.

While El Al declares its investigation into the incident, Vito's family remains heartbroken. "El Al, words fail me. You have taken the life of my dog, and after demands and checks ad infinitum, we received a corpse". Moses wrote in anguish.

Are the lives of animals not sufficiently valued? Why are laws, particularly the Animal Welfare Act, not properly enforced? Where are the responsible authorities? And where is the legislation to protect animals?

We are rendered speechless by El Al's indifference. They accepted a living dog and returned a lifeless body; after all, a dog is unequivocally a family member in every sense.

This lamentable situation underscores the necessity for a reevaluation of protocols for handling living beings during flights and the importance of heightened responsibility from airline companies. Moreover, it raises questions about the inherent dangers in transporting pets and the need to find safer solutions for animals traveling with their owners.

Vito's tragedy serves as a painful reminder of the weighty responsibility borne by airline companies and the need for continuous improvement in safety protocols and animal care procedures.

Through the "Maakav" system, an inquiry was directed to El Al, yet the company has not deigned to respond (one wonders why?).

Ministry of Agriculture Called Upon to Reassess Animal Transportation Protocols

In the wake of this event, the "Maakav" system dispatched an official inquiry to the Ministry of Agriculture, demanding the initiation of an investigation and a reassessment of existing protocols for animal transportation. Among the questions raised in the inquiry:

1. Will the Ministry commence an independent investigation of the incident?
2. What measures will be taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future?
3. Is there a need for enhanced supervision of airline companies?

The Ministry of Agriculture has yet to officially respond to the incident and the "Maakav" system's inquiry. The public awaits to see what steps will be taken in the aftermath of this tragedy, and whether changes will be implemented in animal transportation protocols in Israel.

A prominent case illustrating this difficult situation is the story of Pomvom, which experienced a severe setback with the cancellation of a planned merger and the collapse of its shares on the local stock exchange.

Pomvom, an Israeli company specializing in developing and providing AI-based digital photography solutions for the global market of amusement parks and experiential events, faced a significant opportunity to expand its operations. The company planned a merger with Israel Acquisition Corp, a SPAC owned by former minister Izhar Shay and his partner Ziv Elul. The merger was supposed to be executed at a company valuation of $125 million, a figure significantly higher than its market value last October.

However, Pomvom's ambitious plans encountered an unexpected obstacle. Last Thursday, the company announced the cancellation of the merger agreement with Israel Acquisitions Corp, which is listed on NASDAQ. In a statement to the stock exchange, Pomvom noted that the cancellation was "due to changes in global market conditions." For Pomvom, the merger's cancellation represents a severe blow, as it was supposed to open the gates of Wall Street and expand its financing and growth opportunities.

The market's reaction to this news was immediate and harsh. Pomvom's share price on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange plummeted by 35%, reflecting investors' loss of confidence in the company's short-term growth potential.

Despite the current crisis, Pomvom holds significant assets and important strategic agreements. The company provides its services to a wide range of leading amusement parks and attractions worldwide, including sites owned by industry giants such as Six Flags, Warner Bros., and Merlin Entertainment. Earlier this year, it was reported that long-term strategic agreements signed in 2023 with Warner Bros. and Six Flags are expected to expand the company's presence from 38 sites currently to 47 sites by the end of 2024.

The case of Pomvom is not an isolated incident but part of a broader trend characterizing the Israeli startup market recently. Many companies find themselves facing significant challenges in raising capital, creating strategic partnerships, and realizing ambitious growth plans.

Various factors contribute to this situation. Global economic uncertainty affects investors' willingness to take risks on young and innovative companies. Increased competition, with the proliferation of startups in Israel and worldwide, makes the struggle for investor attention and market share more intense. Additionally, changes in the regulatory environment, both in Israel and in global target markets, pose additional obstacles for companies seeking to expand. Sometimes, high valuations in early stages make it difficult for companies to meet investor expectations in the short and medium term.

The Israeli startup industry is known for its resilience and ability to adapt to changing market conditions. The capacity for innovation, development of breakthrough technologies, and identification of unique business opportunities remains a central asset of Israeli entrepreneurs. The current situation emphasizes the need for a more cautious approach, meticulous strategic planning, and building stable and sustainable business models for the long term in the Israeli startup industry.
