Iran launched this morning a barrage of approximately 30 missiles toward Israel, just hours after US President Donald Trump announced "very successful strikes in Iran" and shared a post on his social network: "Fordow is no more!". The American-Israeli attack hit nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, with the participation of American B-2 bombers and submarines with Tomahawk missiles.
The Iranian barrage caused impacts in Haifa, Tel Aviv, Nes Ziona and Be'er Yaakov. According to Magen David Adom updates, 30 wounded have been evacuated so far to hospitals – one in moderate condition and the rest in light condition, including three children. One wounded person was hit by shrapnel on the road.
The most severe impact occurred in Nes Ziona, where a missile hit directly in a villa neighborhood and caused extensive damage to several houses. Security and rescue forces are still searching the area to ensure they didn't miss people in the damaged houses. Simultaneously, evacuation of completely destroyed vehicles began to allow free passage of cars and rescue vehicles.
Magen David Adom paramedic Adi Antonitsky described the scene in Nes Ziona: "This involves a missile strike in an area of private houses in a residential neighborhood, with extensive damage to several houses. The large Magen David Adom teams that were dispatched to the location provided medical treatment to several lightly wounded who were hit by shrapnel and are suffering from injuries to their bodies". He added that residents who listened to Home Front Command instructions and entered protected spaces when the sirens sounded avoided serious injuries.
Among the hospitals that received wounded: Ichilov received eight wounded including two children, Kaplan three including a child, Bnei Zion five, and Assaf Harofeh seven wounded, one of them in moderate condition. It's possible that some of the wounded arrived independently at the hospitals.
The American attack on Iran was the first of its kind after the US effectively joined the war alongside Israel. Trump declared shortly after the attack: "The central facilities for nuclear enrichment have been completely destroyed". In an additional statement he wrote: "We completed an attack on Fordow and additional nuclear sites, now it's time for peace!".
The Iranian response came quickly. The Houthis and Iranians published a threat: "Every American citizen or soldier in the region is now a legitimate target". Trump responded with a counter-threat: "Any act of retaliation will be met with much greater force than we have seen". Last night an Iranian senior official threatened that the reactor in Dimona might become a target.
Following the acute tension, the Home Front Command tightened guidelines and ordered work only in essential places. Educational activities will not take place and Israel's airspace was closed again, leading to the cancellation of evacuation flights.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Trump and said: "First comes strength, then comes peace". This statement comes at a time when the region stands on the brink of particularly sharp escalation, with three main fronts – north, center and south – dealing with missile impacts and fire.
History shows that this is the first time the US effectively joins a direct attack on Iranian nuclear facilities. The joint attack symbolizes a turning point in American policy toward Iran, but Tehran's immediate response indicates its readiness to escalate the situation despite the severe damage it sustained.
The growing tension between the sides raises heavy concern about further escalation, especially in light of the mutual threats and the open readiness of all sides to continue the confrontation. The closure of airspace and new restrictions imposed by the Home Front Command indicate assessment of the security situation as extremely serious.
The joint attacks hit the most sensitive facilities in the Iranian nuclear array, including the facility in Fordow considered the most advanced in the Iranian nuclear program. The damage to these facilities could cause additional responses from Iran and its allies in the region, which could lead to broader escalation in the Middle East.
